CTS will work with you to prevent injury and improve the quality of your dance performance. Dancers have a high propensity for injury due to the extreme active and static postures required during training and performance. Dancers must have the appropriate strength, flexibility and joint range of motion in order to prevent injury. Common dance-related injuries occur in the low back, foot, ankle, hip and knee. Injuries can be related to a strain/sprain, overuse, tendonitis, instability and/or muscular imbalance.

For optimum performance, the right balance of muscular recruitment sequencing, concentration, relaxation and energetic intent must be achieved. We will work with you to build core strength, maximize cardiovascular power and enhance your ability to rapidly adapt between mobility and stability demands.

Your evaluation is performed by a Physical Therapist trained in the examination of dancers to identify abnormalities in movement patterns that may be contributing to injury. CTS physical therapist Aimee Martel, DPT has 16 years of dance experience, primarily in ballet and is knowledgeable in dance-related conditions. Another CTS physical therapist Tammy Perrine, DPT, OCS is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science and keeps current in new research pertaining to dance-related injury and treatment.
